JSPS Club Deutschland:
In Deutschland hat sich aus dem Kreis ehemaliger Stipendiaten der Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS) 1995 die "Deutsche Gesellschaft der JSPS-Stipendiaten e.V." gegründet. Weltweit ist dies die erste Alumni-Vereinigung von JSPS-Stipendiaten. In kurzer Form wird der Verein "JSPS-Club" genannt.

Doing research in Japan
Japan is a great country to live in and a country very active in doing high level research. It may seem to be rather difficult to go to Japan for doing a PhD or Postdoc (and I cannot fully deny this in certain aspects..), but with a strong motivation and the right information at hand, it's not that complicated.
Below I compiled some links to give some start-up information.
Being able to learn at least some basic Japanese before or just at the beginning of your stay certainly helps. As does an interest in Japanese culture, Japanese food, traveling the country and hard work (read:-).
